Summer is a great time to be on Bald Head Island NC, but arguably the absolute best time has got to be over the Fourth of July weekend. This year, there was a whole list of exciting Fourth of July celebrations taking place on BHI so if you missed it, here's a recap!
BHI’s Fourth of July Celebration
From Friday, July 3rd to Sunday, July 5th, Bald Head Island celebrated the Fourth of July in its usual grandiose style. This was one of the most festive times of the year on Bald Head Island and opportunities for fun are plenty. Over the course of the weekend, guests enjoyed Ghost Walks, kayak trips, pool games at the Shoals Club, and more. Everything started on the 3rd with the Annual Golf Cart Parade, hosted by the Old Baldy Foundation.
July 3rd Activities
This year, July 3rd was awesome on BHI. The entire day was filled with fun and exciting activities, including the Patriotic Paddle Excursion, the Island Nature Tour, the Fourth of July Parade, the Jr. Scientists Camp at the BHI Conservancy, Pool Invasion at the Shoals Club, and the Celebrate the Red, White & Blue Island Passage.
Of course, there was also the usual golf clinics, fishing lessons, face painting, and Turtle Walks that took place, too.
What Went Down On the 4th?
With the Fourth of July on a Saturday this year, guests were able to enjoy their patriotic revelries without having to worry about getting up for work the next day. On Bald Head Island, this is perfect because there’s a lot taking place on Independence Day.
The annual 4th of July Proximity Bash was held at the BHI Club; the Fourth of July Fun Run takes place at the Shoals Club, and the BHI Artisans Show & Sale was held at the BH Association Building. From noon to 6pm, the Shoals Club hosted a Stars & Stripes Pool Party, while the BHI Club hosted a Family Seafood Festival from 4pm to 7pm.
The Pirates are Coming! Festival
If you couldn’t get to BHI for the annual Fourth of July Celebrations, don’t worry, because there are things going on all month long. One of July’s most anticipated events is the Pirates are Coming! Festival. Starting on Friday, July 31st and running through Sunday, August 2nd, this popular annual fundraiser for Old Baldy is a family favorite. It includes a Pirate Invasion, Pirate Block Party, sword fights, gun powder, pirate encampments, a pirate parade, a pirate costume contest, pirate schools, duck races, and more.
